Common Warts

Common warts
are larger and firmer elevations with a rough surface. They can be found anywhere on our body but they usually occur on the hands, forearms, knees and the upper parts of the feet. People usually develop thickening of the skin surface at the weight-bearing area in the sole (planter surface of the feet). Commonly known as corns they are caused by consistent pressure at a particular area which makes the outermost, horny layer of the skin proliferate. Planter warts  are slightly different. They normally contain blood vessels and the surface of the wart, if carefully cut off, bleeds because of this.
It is a discoloration of a circumscribed area of the skin due to extra pigment deposition. A mole is darker in colour and is solid. In comparison, a wart is a softer structure which is translucent and marked with veins.

Seborrhoeic Warts

This is also a type of warts. Sometimes, by the age of 60, lots of greasy warts appear on the face, neck and trunk. Very often, people worry about them being evidence of skin cancer. They may become itchy and sore. These can be removed by scraping or freezing.

How are Common Warts caused?

Common Warts
are caused by HPV, which enters your skin through some cut and causes your internal cells to multiply very rapidly. Mostly, warts spread through direct contact with an infected person, but it may be possible that you pick up the virus from moist environments.
Common warts may be flat or raised, dry or moist, and have a rough and pitted surface that is either the same color as or slightly darker than the surrounding skin. They can be as small as a pinhead or as large as a small bean. They can be mildly to highly contagious and the virus that causes common warts is acquired through breaks in the skin.

Treatment of Common Warts

Common warts are best treated by electro-cautery. Under local anaesthesia, the warts are removed with a cautery which excises the wart with an electric current while cauterising the site. Alternatively, they can also be scooped out with a curette under local anaesthesia, by cauterising the site with electro-cautery.

Cure for Common Warts

The common cure is patience as they sometimes dissapear on their own. You can also cure them by using a medicine from the drug store or by using any other natural product for the treatment of warts. In serious case, you must approach your doctor as soon as possible. It is always best to consult your for treatment as soon as you see warts because they can spread very easily. Doctors can get rid of them by zapping the warts with a laser or by using a special chemical that freezes the wart off. Remember that common warts are an extremely common skin condition so dont worry much about them. Mostly everyone gets warts at some or the other point of life.
